RE: Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity has received a great deal of positive PR from the media, from other organizations and even from many Christian churches. There is no doubt that building homes for the homeless is a worthy goal, and most of the individuals working with and supporting Habitat for Humanity are honest, hardworking people who are unaware of the more sinister aspects of the organization.

Mr. Millard Fuller, founder of Habitat for Humanity, said in an interview on WDJC radio in Birmingham, Alabama on July 25, 1996, in response to a call-in question: "Habitat for Humanity has no connection with Habitat of the United Nations. We are a separate 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization headquartered in Americus, Georgia."

Mr. Fuller, who professes to be a Christian and who says Habitat for Humanity is a Christian organization, said in a speech before the plenary session of the United Nations Habitat II Conference on June 5, 1996: "We are part of the United Nations Habitat family. We are, in a real sense, an offspring of Habitat I, [The first U. N. Habitat Conference held in 1976] and our very destiny is linked with this Habitat II Conference."

Was Mr. Fuller lying on June 5 or on July 25?

The attached chronology shows that there is and has been a definite affiliation between Habitat for Humanity and the United Nations Habitat agenda. Why would a professing Christian perjure himself to deny such an affiliation? Perhaps you will have a little better understanding of this once you have read some of the proposals issuing from the Habitat II Conference: (underlining has been added)
bulletSustainable human settlements shall recognize and enhance as a resource the importance and value of culture, cultural diversity, and cultural heritage, including spiritual and religious practices.

[The United Nations is basically antithetical to Fundamental Christianity. It professes to be open to all religions, but since Fundamental Christianity recognizes only one God it doesn't fit into the U. N. scheme, and please notice that spiritual and religious practices are here described as resources to be utilized. The utilization of church groups to further its aims is a good case in point. It is capitalizing on the Christian desire to aid the less fortunate as a means of drafting them into its service.]
bulletThe family is the basic unit of society, and as such should be strengthened. It is entitled to receive comprehensive protection and support. In different cultural, political and social systems, various forms of the family exist.

[This various forms of the family was more clearly defined at the Beijing Conference in 1995. To conform to U. N. standards it would have to be expanded to include homosexual unions. This is another reason Christians must distance themselves from the United Nations programs.]
bulletAll human settlements shall be planned, developed and improved so as to ensure sustainability. No development can be sustainable unless it is socially and culturally sustainable, environmentally sustainable, and economically sustainable. These aspects shall be taken into account in all human settlements planning.

[This is already being done in Pleasant Grove, Moody and Alabaster (Alabama). As the Birmingham Regional Planning Commission works with those cities to develop plans for the next twenty years they are more-or-less mandated to work under the U. N. parameters since the United States signed the U. N. Biodiversity Treaty (Agenda 21) in 1992. Sustainable Development does not mean business as usual in the United States. We are often portrayed as the example of unsustainable development.]
