ALLIANCE FOR CITIZENS RIGHTS

THE TYRANNY OF EQUALITY
by Ken Freeman

America was once ruled by her people. These United States were formed as a Representative Republic where the phrase "a nation of the people, by the people and for the people" actually rang true.

All that has changed; now it is the few that rule and the majority’s rights that are being destroyed. We are subject to the tyranny of the minority.

No government is perfect but ours was the best ever devised by man. Our Republic was designed to yield the greatest good for the largest numbers of people without devouring the few, i.e., majority rule. It succeeded magnificently. America’s representative republic has produced the largest, best-educated and wealthiest middle class in the history of the world. The majority ruled and the majority prospered. Immigrants came to America to escape equality and find opportunity; this was the "American Dream."

To our Founding Fathers the concept of "equal opportunity" was precious; but except for the fact that they spoke of all men as being equals in the sight of God, they never once mentioned equality. They knew, as we should, that there is a huge difference between equality and equal opportunity. Opportunity brings hope and fosters excellence. Equality only makes us brothers in mediocrity and despair.

Because of a lack of understanding of this concept, the sword of equality has been used not to raise us up, but to cut us all down to the same size. Be it man, animal or plant, anything perceived as weak or defenseless by our government now takes precedence over the people of our nation.

For example: One person objects to the pledge of allegiance and although ninety five percent of our people support the pledge, nearly 250 million citizens are deprived of their public support of patriotism. One person objects, and the Ten Commandments are no longer allowed on public property, our property, even though seventy nine percent of the citizens of both our state and nation say the Commandments should stay. In order to protect an insect or a fish from just the "perception of endangerment," millions of Americans are deprived of their property rights. In our perverted judicial system, the opinion of one federal judge out weighs the opinions of many millions of American voters.

Why is this so? Not because government loves the minority. So far they still need the majority vote to stay in power. No, I believe that it is because the minority dissenter has become the excuse for the expansion of government and accumulation of political power. One small cry of inequality and the full force of the federal government descends upon the people. On every corner we have some supposedly oppressed group being used as the excuse for excessive government expansion. Conflicts are created and when the dust clears more of our rights have disappeared and our government is larger and more expensive than before. Today the majority of our people are deprived of equal opportunity in the name of equality. To defend the few, the many are oppressed.

Our Federal Government has morphed into a monster feeding on and protecting itself. It rewards those who do no useful work and through a totally unfair taxation system penalizes those who produce real work and real products. It is consuming the prosperity built by our ancestors and stealing the futures of our children. Government bureaucracies have become gluttons, cannibals eating their own flesh.

It’s all about power and control. In most politicians’ eyes, regardless of party, the bigger the government the better they like it. Week by week, crisis by crises we are moving toward a huge centralized government. Every year the local and state governing bodies, those the most in tune with the common man, lose power and grow weaker. We are on the path to a vast "One World Government" where America is only one voice and where the American citizen is so far removed from his government as to be unworthy of notice.

The Socialist dream of equality is a destructive myth, the sugar coating on the poison pill. There is no equality except in the equality of the lowest common denominator, the equality of despair. Equality exists only in tyrannical centralized governments such as Iraq, Iran, North Korea, Zimbabwe, Cuba and other totalitarian nations where all people are equally impoverished, equally ignorant, equally repressed by government; and where their minorities are equally exterminated!

You demand equality, you say! Be careful what you wish for. You just might get it!

As for myself, I think it is time that we start electing public officials who will abide by our Constitution, defend our Nation and represent our people as they are sworn to do. We "the people" need to take our country back.
